Happy Little Engine

The Happy Little Engine is the engine in The Little Engine That Could (book). She is seen hauling a trainload of toys and food, before breaking down (from an unknown fault) at the foothills of the mountain. She and the toys ask the Shiny New Engine, the Big Strong Engine, and the Rusty Old Engine for assistance, but all three turn them down for their own reasons. The Little Blue Engine obliges and agrees to help, although the Happy Little Engine mysteriously disappears from the scene after this - a move which has drawn controversy which has caused some future adaptations to show what happened to her - in the 1991 Movie, Georgia is taken away by Doc, a medical engine, and in the 90th Anniversary Edition, the toys wave back to her while she waits for help.

Basis

The Happy Little Engine appears to be based on a Milwaukee Road Class A2, similar to the Rusty Old Engine. Alternatively, she resembles an ATSF 507-class 4-4-2 in terms of her valve gear.
