Final state

The Cottage of the Seven Dwarfs is a location featured in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It's the home of the Seven Dwarfs, who leave every morning to work in the Dwarfs' Mine. Snow White comes upon the cottage during the day and, finding it deserted, cleans it (with the help of the forest animals) in the hope of being allowed to stay.

Inside, the cottage is beautifully decorated with ornate woodcarvings of various animals and occasionally dwarf figures as well. Almost every object, from a chair to a candleholder, is detailed in some way.

The cottage will be part of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction set to open next year, located near the mines rather than away from them like in the movie.

Behind the ScenesEdit

DesignEdit

It's likely that the general appearance and shape of the Dwarfs' cottage was inspired by the ancient home of Dr. Rotwang in Fritz Lang's Metropolis, a film studied by the Disney artists at the time. The cottage was designed primarily by inspirational sketch artist Albert Hurter. Hurter is also responsible for the carved decorations and instruments inside the cottage; designs of a similar nature are also present in Geppetto's Workshop in Pinocchio. Ken Anderson constructed a detailed miniature of the cottage and its interior, to which layout artists could refer.

TriviaEdit

  • Early trailers of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep show Terra fighting an Unversed near the cottage. However in the final product, He doesn't venture beyond the area where Snow White is picking flowers and only journeys to the Queen's Castle.
  • In End of the World in Kingdom Hearts, the cottage is seen on a wall of a cave along with the trees.
